Robert Fetter

Robert Allen Fetter, 87, of Ironton, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 9, 1923, the son of the late Joseph and Maude Willis Fetter. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Cade Fetter, whom he married July 3, 1948.

Mr. Fetter is a 1943 graduate of Ironton High School and a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. He was a former employee for Aristech Chemical, retiring in 1989 and a member of Central Christian Church in Ironton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Adrienne Graves.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son, Allen Fetter of Pickerington; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Tom Stapleton of Columbus; a brother, George William Fetter of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Minister Brent Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and donations may be made to the Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41101.
