PORTSMOUTH — Shawnee State University’s Clark Planetarium is offering free shows again this summer beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 20.

The shows will run at 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee every week until July 31.

This summer several shows will be featured including “Two Small Pieces of Glass” that traces the history of the telescope from Galileo’s modifications of spyglass using two small pieces of glass to the launch of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and the future of astronomy. It explores the wonder and discovery made by astronomers throughout the last 400 years.

Other shows include an up-to-date look at the amazing science being done with the Hubble Space Telescope, NASA’s premier orbiting observatory, also “Legends of the Night Sky: Orion,” “Black Holes,” “The Skies Tonight,” “Amazing Astronomers of Antiquity,” “Future Moon” and “Dawn of the Space Age,” among a total of 18 different shows for different age groups. Reservations may be made for groups and organizations. The Planetarium is located in the Advanced Technology Center on the Shawnee State campus.
