MULLINSVILLE — A seven-months pregnant Ironton woman is being charged with murder after the alleged shooting of an Elizabeth Township man Sunday morning.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Detective Aaron Bollinger said Ashley D. Seagraves, 23, of 214 1/2 Pearl St., has confessed to shooting Delmar Jenkins, of 279 Township Road 323, at his home. Bollinger declined to comment on a motive.

Jenkins was found at his home by a family member at approximately 10:45 a.m. Sunday. He was taken by medical helicopter to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va., with severe head trauma. Initially placed on life support, Bollinger said Jenkins died at approximately 5:30 a.m. today.

“Witnesses described a pregnant female fleeing from the residence at about 5 a.m. (Sunday),” Bollinger said. Seagraves is in the Lawrence County Jail. She is also facing other, unrelated charges in Boyd County, Ky.
