Audrey Gaskins

Audrey Gaskins, 84, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at a local health care center. The Logan, W. Va., native was born Sept. 1, 1927, the daughter of the late Van and Lula Turner Aldridge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Gaskins III.

Mrs. Gaskins attended Waterloo High School and was a former owner/operator of Caldwell’s Grocery Store in Kyger, Ohio, a former employee of Robbins and Myers and of Holzer Hospital. She was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie (Bob) Riggsby, Virgie (Marvin) Grout, Eloise Hankins, and Lenora (Cecil) Rice.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Pete Newman of Ironton; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Treva Caldwell of Gallipolis; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Henry Willis of Hecla; three grandchildren, Shannon (Brigette) Belville, Tim (Lori) Caldwell and Chris (Sarah) Cooper and seven great grandchildren, Brea Belville, Layne Caldwell, Logan Caldwell, Trevor Dale, Xavier Cooper, Aiden Cooper, and Madison Cooper.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Aldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Mildred Sue Thomas-Withrow, 80, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Shawnee Church of God, 1303 Beth Ann Drive, Flatwoods with Pastor Jim Stamper officiating. Billy Lambert

Billy Dale Lambert, 56, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. There will be a private family service at a later date.

Ella Jacqueline “Jackie” Smith, 79, of Raceland, Ky, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at her home. She was the wife of Beryl Smith, who survives. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Evans Funeral Home, Raceland, with Elder Gary Blevins. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
