Larry Riley

Larry H. Riley, 76, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Dec. 25, 1935, the son of the late Roy and Evelyn Geswein Riley. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Riggs Riley.

Mr. Riley was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended Morehead University. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner of Larry H. Riley Insurance Agency and retired in 2011. Mr. Riley received the Father Glockner Award in 1953 and was a member of the Life Underwriter’s Training Council (LUTC). He was also a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerard Riley; a great grandson, Logan Longberry and a great granddaughter, Phoebe Winter.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six sons and five daughters-in-law, Patrick and Lisa Riley of Nebraska, Michael and Janalyn Riley of Springboro, Timothy Riley of Ironton, John and Kathy Riley of Ironton, Joseph and June Riley of North Carolina, and Terry and Sherri Riley of Colorado; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen and Woodrow Hickman of South Carolina, Colleen and Barry Holderby of Virginia, and Eileen Leibee of South Carolina; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sharon Wikoff of Ironton, Pat Rogers of Columbus, Mary Catherine and Michael Burton of North Carolina, and Theresa and David Crance of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Irene Riley of New Hampshire; 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 611 Center Street, Ironton, OH, with Father David Huffman officiating. There will be no public visitation. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

Charles Stapleton

Charles E. Stapleton Jr., 67 of Ironton passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at a local health care facilty. The Huntington, W.Va., native was born Dec. 7, 1945, the son of the late Charles E. and Mary Ann Ashworth Stapleton. He is survived by his wife Mary E. Sharp Stapleton.Charles was a graduate of Ironton High School. He formerly worked for the Ironton Lawrence County General Hospital and was a self-employed laborer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sons, Richard Lee Stapleton, Joe Stapleton and Charles E. Stapleton III; grandmother, Anna Ball; granddaughter, Jessica Bowman; and a very good friend; Linda Dameron.

In addition to his wife he is survived by son, Earnest Stapleton of Ironton; daughter, Margaret Stapleton of Ironton; grandson, Tyler Stapleton; granddaughter, Raschell Bowman; granddaughter, Candace Bowman; brother, Robert Stapleton of Texas. Harry Conrad

Harry J. Conrad, 78, of Ona, W.Va., died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. There will be no services and a private family burial. Jean Marie Stevens, 76, of South Point, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Heartland of Riverview. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point with Pastor Chuck Price officiating. Burial will follow in Luther Bowen Cemetery in Lavalette, W.Va.
