Ironton 14, Gallipolis 13

Ironton’s defense knocked away a two-point conversion pass attempt with 30 seconds to play and held on to beat the Gallipolis Blue Devils 14-13 Friday night.

Patrick Lewis scored both Ironton touchdowns in the third quarter on a 5-yard run and a 60-yard punt return. Jalen Schweickart kicked both extra points.

Gallipolis (1-2) got a 3-yard scoring run by Logan Allison in the first quarter that was set up by Ty Warnimont’s 59-yard run.

After recovering a fumble with 1:24 left, the Blue Devils scored six plays later on a 6-yard pass from Wade Jarrell to Nick Clagg to make it 14-13.

Lewis ran 12 times for 87 yards and quarterback Tanner Dutey was 5 of 8 passing for 60 yards to pace Ironton (3-0) who hosts Ashland, Ky., next week.

 

Chesapeake 29, Symmes Valley 22

WILLOW WOOD — Jacob Collins ran 12 times for 120 yards including the go-ahead touchdown with 6:43 to play as the Chesapeake Panthers got past the Symmes Valley Vikings 29-22 on Friday.

Chesapeake (1-2) had 349 yards on the ground with Nate Jones adding 99 yards on 12 carries and Caleb Lindsey 68 yards on 11 tries.

The Vikings (2-1) were led by Alec Herrell with 138 yards on 11 carries despite sitting out the final 14 minutes of the game with leg cramps. Tyler Rowe ran 13 times for 100 yards and scored with 7:30 to go and added the conversion run to give the Vikings a 22-21 lead.

But Collins went 28 yards to cap a 62-yard, three-play drive and Jones ran for the conversion.

 

Lucasville Valley 34, Coal Grove 18

LUCASVILLE — The Lucasville Valley Indians scored 26 unanswered points and went on to beat the Coal Grove Hornets 34-18 on Friday.

Will Howard ran for 74 yards, Matt Rollins 60 yards and Nate Arnett had 51 yards and scored four touchdowns including a 52-yard interception return in the second quarter.

Coal Grove got two touchdown runs by Brandon Hogsten and a 2-yard TD run by Alex Bare.

 

Wellston 48, South Point 21

SOUTH POINT — Leading just 21-13 at the half, the Wellston Golden Rockets outscored the South Point Pointers 27-0 in the third quarter en route to a 48-21 win on Friday.

Wellston had 255 yards on the ground and 32 passing for a 287 total. Noah Massie ran 11 times for 98 yards and three touchdowns.

South Point managed just 7 net yards rushing. Quarterback Gage Townson was 9 of 27 for 190 yards and three touchdown passes covering 2 yards to Mason White, 57 to D’Angelo Palladino and 52 to Josh Browning.

 

Sciotoville East 40, Green 20

SCIOTOVILLE — Justin Crager ran for 384 yards and four touchdowns to lead the unbeaten East Tartans past the Green Bobcats 40-20 on Friday in a non-league game.

Green (2-1) was tied at the half 14-14 thanks to Kyle Frazier who returned a kickoff 85 yards and then had an 85-yard run from scrimmage. He finished with 128 yards on seven carries and also had 135 return yards.

Levi Mollett added 55 yards on 11 carries, Rob Applegate 50 yards on 10 carries, and Clay Applegate 37 yards on seven tries for the Bobcats. Mark Martin had an interception.

East (3-0) scored twice in each of the next two quarters to pull away to the win.
