The St. Joseph Flyers are like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. They bounce.

The Flyers bounced back from a 3-0 loss on Thursday to rout the Piketon Red Streaks 8-0 on Saturday in a soccer game.

“Coming off Thursday’s loss, it was important to come out ready to play team soccer,” said Flyers’ coach Tim Hopkins. “Our possession was better, we shot well from distance and we had a solid effort from our bench.”

Joseph Payton and Trey Young led the scoring onslaught with a pair of goals each.

Chris Lewis, Sidney Payne and Jacob Clark all added first half goals while Haley Glockner scored the lone second half goal.

Nick Roach had a pair of assists while Glockner, Tanner Carte and Emma Saxby had one each.

Flyers’ goalie Justin Mahlmeister had six saves.

The Flyers visit Portsmouth Clay Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and host Lincoln County, W.Va., at noon on Saturday.
