SOUTH POINT — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers made the third time the charm as they beat the West Union Lady Dragons 5-2 Tuesday in the Division III girls’ sectional soccer tournament.

After losing in their first two sectional tournament games the past two years, Chesapeake beat West Union as Jackie Nelson and Carly Macfarland scored two goals each.

After a 1-1 tie the first half, the Lady Panthers scored four straight goals in the second half to lead 5-1.

Kierra Kerns scored with an assist from Nelson and then Nelson scored with an assist from Grayson Collins.

Macfarland got a goal with Kerns getting the assist and Nelson scored again with the aid of Sydnee Hall.

Chesapeake dominated with 31 shots on goal to West Union’s four.

The Lady Panthers play at 1 p.m. Saturday in the sectional finals at Minford.
