Ladies 9-Hole holds awards banquet

PINE GROVE — The Ironton Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association of the Ironton Country Club met for their final golf session during October.

The beautiful fall sunshine served as a backdrop for members and their guests who attended during polar bear-like weather conditions. However, one member’s golf cart took the early morning chill off the day.

The group began with breakfast refreshments followed by tee-off times that were announced by Pat Riggs.

Members and guests were: Pat and Jim Riggs, Betty and Lonnie Fraley, Joyce and Jerry Fields, Georgia and Carlos Willis, Jeff and Becky Dillow, Nance and George Livingston, Sharon Fox and Tom Ross, Shirley and Loren Gleim, Barb Holms and Marty Lewis, Joyce and Ralph Lewis, Pat Lambert and Ed Eldridge, Cecilia and Jim Woods, Wanda Spears and Burl Bunker, Rose Auble and Cliff Jenkins, Johnna Jones and Bill Sparks, Irene Howard and Doris Roberts.

A potluck luncheon provided by members was served with the assistance of Lynn Bunker of the clubhouse restaurant. Bunker also assisted with decorating with festive fall arrangements.

Spears said prayer before and after the meal and Pat Riggs announced the morning winners” Jerry Fields, Carlos Willis, Cliff Jenkins, the Dillow and Fields team, and Marty Lewis.

Jones announced the year’s league winners: Becky Dillow championship flight winner and Ringer Tournament champion; Pat Riggs first flight; Rose Auble second flight; Joyce Lewis third flight; Cecilia Woods fourth flight; Jane Mains handicap tournament champion and Birdie Tree winner; Joyce Lewis handicap tournament runner-up as well as most improved; and Jamie Dyer Par 3 winner.

Other winners from events throughout the season were: Jamie Dyer, Sharon Fox, Georgia Willis, Nancy Livingston, Joyce Fields, Pat Riggs, Wanda Spears, Jane Mains and Betty Fraley.

Chairman Pat Lambert thanks the year’s officers including co-chairman Nancy Livingston, secretary and publicist Joyce Lewis, treasurer Johnna Jones, historian Betty Fraley, sunshine Committee Joyce Fields and Cecilia Woods, and tournament play director Pat Riggs.

The group will hold its annual Christmas gathering on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Bellefonte Country Club with members and their guests bringing passing party gifts.
