Porter, Hall lead Lady Panthers’ win

GALLIPOLIS — Jordan Porter and Sydnee Hall put together a tag team effort that would make D-Generation X envious.

Porter and Hall combined for 40 points as the Chesapeake Lady Panthers opened the season with a 79-29 rout of the Ohio Valley Christian Lady Defenders on Thursday.

Porter scored 24 points and Hall had 16 to lead the Lady Panthers.

Chesapeake exploded in the first quarter to take a 28-7 lead. Porter and Hall teamed up to score all 28 points including 18 by Porter.

The Lady Panthers built a 45-14 halftime cushion and never looked back.

Mackenzie Moore grabbed 13 rebounds for Chesapeake. Jackie Nelson had 8 assists and 3 steals with Kelsey Curry getting 4 steals.

Chesapeake hosts Gallipolis on Monday.

SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers couldn’t overcome a poor second quarter as they lost 47-41 to the Lawrence County Lady Bulldogs on Thursday.

South Point led 13-12 after the first quarter and outscored the Lady Bulldogs 21-19 in the second half, but the Lady Pointers managed just 7 points in the second quarter and fell behind by 8 points.

Lawrence County (1-0) outscored the Lady Pointers 16-7 in the second quarter to take a 28-20 halftime lead and then held on for the win.

Abbey Winkler hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead the Lady Pointers (0-2). Brett Justice had 12 points, Lakin Adams pulled down 10 rebounds and Bonnie Hileman had 7 rebounds.

Lawrence County’s Taylor Porter led all scorers with 25 points.
