Charles Dean

Aug. 26, 1927-Dec. 31, 2012

 

Charles Dean, 85, of Willow Wood, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Jo-Lin Health Center, Ironton.  He was born Aug. 26, 1927 in Cabell County, W.Va. son of the late Allen and Bertha Ross Dean.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Dessie Dean Clagg; and two brothers Fred Dean and Clyde Dean.  He was a WWII Army veteran.  He retired from the Symmes Valley School District as a bus driver with 32 years of service.

He is survived by his companion of 37 years, Betty L. Craig; one nephew Melvin (Barbara) Clagg of York, Pa.; and one niece Lucille Chapman of Milton, W.Va.  The family would like to express their appreciation for the care provided by Jo-Lin Health Center.  Visitation was from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville.  Burial was at Locust Grove Cemetery, Willow Wood.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

 

Ruth Ann Ball

May 22, 1935-Jan. 8 2013

 

Ruth Ann Ball, 77, of Pedro, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born May 22, 1935, the daughter of the late Simeon and Hazel Fetters Webb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C. Donovan Ball, who died May 19, 2009.

Mrs. Ball was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School. She was a former nurse’s aide for Jo-Lin Health Center for 23 years and a member of the New Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Travis, Louise Webb and Jane Miller; and three brothers, Thomas Webb, Ralph Webb and Harrison Webb

She is survived by a son, Timothy Darrell Ball of Pedro; two daughters and a son-in-law, Delinda Ann Kirtley of Hot Springs, Ark. and Loretta Jane and Frank Cooper of Coal Grove; a sister,  Mary Delawder of Pedro; a brother, Joe Webb of Ironton; and four grandchildren.

Mary Holschuh

April 22, 1938-Jan. 7, 2013

 

Mary M. Holschuh, 74, of Lancaster formerly passed away on Monday Jan. 7, 2013 at the Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio. She was born on April 22, 1938 in Ironton, to the late Emerson and Ruby (Lewis) Murnahan. Mary was the retired owner of the Lancaster Motel and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lancaster.

Mary is survived by her children, Brian Scott Holschuh, Lahoma Jean Griffith, Yvonne Sue Duncan, Katherine Christine “Babe” Pirrello, William Allen Griffith, Charles Curtis Griffith and Ronald Willis Griffith; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Maggie Shotsky; brothers, Gary Lee Murnahan, and Ronald Lee Murnahan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Holschuh Sr., her parents, and sister Sara Pauley.

Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Lancaster. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Cremeans officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday. Donivan Haskins

Aug. 16, 1929-Jan. 8, 2013

 

Donivan S. Haskins, 83, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at a local health care center in Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 16, 1929, the son of the late Orville C. and Jessie Myrtle Houck Haskins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joann Capper Haskins, who passed away Nov. 17, 1999.

Mr. Haskins was a 1948 graduate of Waterloo High School and a self-employed carpenter. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran, a member of the VFW Post 2761, American Legion, AmVets, and Marine Corps Detachment. He was also of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Donivan Terry Haskins; and four brothers, Merrill Brook Haskins, Jesse Roy Haskins, Orville Haskins and Thomas Lee Haskins.

He is survived by a daughter: Rhonda Holschuh and her husband, Keith of Kitts Hill;

a daughter-in-law, Terri Haskins of Hodges, S.C.; a brother, William Paul Haskins of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Perkins Ridge Cemetery with military graveside rites and Rev. Jim Lee Cremeans officiating. There will be no public visitation. Betty Jo Parker

April 2, 1930-Jan. 9, 2013

 

Betty Jo Parker, 82, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County, Ohio native was born April 2, 1930, the daughter of the late Floyd Wilson Sr. and Betty Wilds Kiser. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lee Parker on April 10, 2000.

Betty was a graduate of Ironton High School and of the Protestant faith.  She was a homemaker and former school bus driver for the Ironton School District.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Keith Parker;

her stepfather who raised her, Omar Kiser.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry and Teresa Parker of Ironton and                                              Stephen Parker of Ironton; three grandchildren,  Chad Parker, Jamie Parker and Ashley Porter

three great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd Wilson Jr. and his wife, Eileen of Ironton; and

a great niece, Jeanine Bledsoe.

Graveside services will be noon p.m. Friday in Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Scott Jenkins officiating. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Henry Maynard

Henry Harmon Maynard, 93, of Chesapeake, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at home. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

 

 

Michael Davis

Michael Davis Jr., 38, of Huntington, W.Va., died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday.

 

 

Betty Vallance

Betty Walker Vallance, 83, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Pastor Tim Osborne officiating.  Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
