Reds’ Caravan visits

Tri-State on Thursday

The annual Cincinnati Reds’ Caravan will visit Fannin Motors in Ashland, Ky., from 3-to-5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Players will field questions and sign autographs while time allows. Fans are limited to one autograph per person per Reds’ personality.

Some top names are scheduled to make the trip including infielder Todd Frazier — one of the National League’s top rookies last year — and base-stealing king Billy Hamilton who was the Minor League Player of the Year.

Also making the stop will be broadcaster Jim Kelch, former Reds’ reliever and current radio color man Jeff Brantley, Baseball Operations Vice President Dick Williams and mascot Rosie Red.

The Caravan will also stop from 7-to-9 p.m. in Charleston, W.Va., on Thursday.

 

Ironton Little League

schedules registrations

The Ironton Little League will conduct registrations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 26 and Feb. 2, at the Ironton Middle School gym.

Boys and girls ages 4-16 are eligible. A parent or legal guardian must register the youth(s) and present three proofs of residence as well as an original or certified copy of a birth certificate.

Also, anyone interested in managing or coaching should apply at this time.

 

Ironton HOF reception

tickets now on sale

Tickets for the first Ironton Athletic Hall of Fame reception and induction ceremonies are now on sale at the Ironton High School Auto Shop and Iron City Hardware.

The reception will be held at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in the high school cafeteria. Finger foods will be served.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the dinner. Tickets are good for admission to the Ironton Hall of Fame Basketball Shootout.

The Shootout has the Fairland Lady Dragons playing the Ashland Kittens at 2 p.m., the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers face the South Point Lady Pointers at 3:45, and the Ironton boys against Akron Buchtel at 5:30 p.m.
