SP girls topple Gallia

GALLIPOLIS — The South Point Lady Pointers used the scoring of Brett Justice and Abbey Winkler to beat the Gallipolis Blue Angels 58-55 Monday.

Justice scored 24 points and Winkler had 12 points for the Lady Pointers (7-9.

Kendra Barnes scored 23 points and Micah Curfman had 16 for Gallipolis (5-14).

Barnes scored 10 points as Gallipolis took a 17-12 lead in the first quarter. Justice had 6 points for the Lady Pointers.

South Point rallied in the second quarter to take a 27-24 halftime lead as Justice and Winkler combined for 13 points.

Justice scored 7 points in the third quarter and the Lady Pointers extended the lead to 40-35.

Curfman scored 11 points and the Blue Angels converted 7 of 7 from the line in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Pointers answered by making 7 of 13 free throw attempts to clinch the win.

South Point visits River Valley Thursday.
