Fairland 7th grade, South Point 8th grade win OVCMS titles

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Junior Dragons’ 7th grade boys finished the season unbeaten as they beat the South Point Junior Pointers 63-36 Monday to win the Ohio Valley Conference Middle School Tournament.

South Point earned a split as the Pointers’ 8th grade beat Fairland 35-23 to win the conference tournament title.

Kollin Vanhorn scored 18 points and Luke Thomas had 12 points to lead the Fairland 7th grade to its 17th win without a loss.

Doug Shaffer scored 10 points and Johnathan Henline scored 9 to lead the Pointers.

In the 8th grade title game, Matt Keeney scored 14 points, A.J. Nease 9 points and Tanner Hall 8 to lead the Pointers. Ty Staten had 14 points to pace Fairland.
