James Dewitz

James W. Dewitz Sr., 92, of Dunnellon, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013. He was born of the Aug. 29, 1920, to the late Carl and Myrtle Dewitz of Lawrence County.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Surviving are two sons, Jim Dewitz of Dunnellon, and Mark and Linda Dewitz of Ironton; three grandchildren, Mark Dewitz III of Dunnellon, Tammy (Dewitz) Rowe and Larry of Ironton, and Ryan Dewitz of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He served 12 years in the U.S. Army and served in WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Riverland Baptist Church of Dunnellon.

A graveside memorial will be held at the Florida National Military Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. Arrangements are pending.
