HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Eight was enough. And so was seven.

Darkness halted play after seven innings as the South Point Pointers and St. Joseph Fighting Irish settled for an 8-8 tie on Thursday.

The game will be completed on April 15 following the regularly scheduled game at South Point.

The Pointers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second only to have the Irish answer with three runs in the bottom of the frame to lead 3-1.

South Point came back with three runs of its own in the top of the third to lead 4-3.

Brandon Boggs singled and moved up on a passed ball. Trey Kearns reached on a missed third strike and Chris Woodard single home a run. Larry Brandon then doubled in two more.

St. Joseph scored twice in the third to go back on top at 5-4 and pushed across three runs in the fourth and it was 8-4.

But the Pointers wouldn’t quit.

In the fifth, Woodard and Brandon doubled for a run. Austin Majher and Josh Browning walked to load the bases and Jesse Lien singled in a run. Alex Whitt then hit a sacrifice fly and it was 8-7.

The Pointers tied the game in the sixth when Majher and Browning ripped an RBI triple.

South Point had 11 hits with Boggs going 2-3, Lien and Woodard 2-4 with an RBI each, Browning 2-3 and two RBI and Brandon 2-5 with a pair of RBI.
