Redmen down Vikings, 11-6

AID — They say a walk is as good as a hit. It was good enough for Rock Hill.

The Redmen combined nine hits with 12 walks to beat the Symmes Valley Vikings 11-6 on Tuesday in six innings.

“It’s was a tough game, but we took advantage of our opportunities,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral.

Jack Goodwin went 3-4 to spark the Rock Hill offense. Laden Delawder was 2-5 and Jonathan Joseph was 1-2 with a double and a sacrifice fly.

Rock Hill (8-2) got a run in the first when Delawder reach on an error, Goodwin singled and Joseph hit a sacrifice fly.

The Vikings took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning on a hit by Seth Jarrell and Tanner Mays’ two-run homer.

The Redmen went up 5-2 in the second on walks to Jordan Hairston and Jonah Cox, RBI singles by Delawder and Goodwin and a two-run single by Evan Morris.

The Vikings got a run back in the bottom of the inning on walks to Dylan Pelletier and Dylan McFann and an error.

Alec Herrell and Jarrell singled in the third and Pelletier grounded out as the Vikings scored a run.

Each team scored a run in the fourth.

Joseph doubled and Goodwin, Morris and Aaron Dalton all walked for Rock Hill’s run. D.J. Miller walked, stole second and scored on an error for the Vikings.

Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning, too.

Delawder hit into a force play, moved up on a passed ball and scored on a hit by Goodwin.

Mays got the Vikings’ run as he walked, moved up on two passed balls and scored on a double play.

Rock Hill scored four times in the sixth.

Dalton was safe on an error, Hairston walked and the run scored after a passed ball and a wild pitch.

Austin Kidd singled in a run, Cox walked and Delawder had a two-run single.

Cox got the win in relief.
