Sylvia Hager

Sylvia Rae Hostetter Hager , 71, of South Point, formerly of Oak Hill, W.Va., died on Saturday, April 20, 2013,at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Born Sept. 11, 1941, at Oak Hill, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Phillip Reese and Effie Mildred Lee Hostetter.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Her husband, William Franklin Hager, and four brothers, Richard Wayne Hostetter, Gary Layne Hostetter, Gerald Laird Hostetter and Allen D. Hostetter, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughter, Candy Cochran of Ironton; two brothers, Phillip Hostetter of Teays Valley and Rodney Hostetter of Oak Hill; six nieces; one nephew; two great nephews; two great nieces and her caregiver, Betty Adams of South Point.

Services will be on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Bill Drennen officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Woodrow McFann

Woodrow W. “Woody” McFann, 88, of Kanawha City, W.Va., previously of Decota, passed away Saturday April 20, 2013, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Woody lived most of his life in Decota (Cabin Creek) and was retired from Carbon Fuel/US Steel Coal Company after 30 years. Upon retirement he established a lawn service business which he enjoyed for many years. He and his wife, Lucille, attended Southeast Church of the Nazarene. Woody proudly served his country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie and Ruby; and five brothers Albert, Arthur, Edgar, Ray and Floyd.

Woody is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucille; daughters Pam (Paul) Knight of Pawleys Island, S.C. and Donna (Jim) Cooper of Indianapolis, Ind.; one son, Woodrow Jr. (Pam) Kanawha City; one brother Oscar of Ironton; four grandchildren, Rob, Amy, Katie, and Brad; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Woody’s life will be noon Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Ollie Parsons officiating. Interment will be in the Decatur Cemetery in Decatur.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ottis Tedrick

Ottis “Joey” Tedrick III, 45, of Greenup, Ky., died Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.
