Pointers roll past Rebels

SOUTH POINT — Why wait?

The South Point Pointers jumped out to a 7-0 lead over the first two innings and cruised to a 9-4 win over the Tolsia Rebels on Monday.

Larry Brandon pitched a five-hitter as he struck out 10 and walked four in going the distance.

The Pointers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Alex Whitt singled, Brandon Boggs reached on an error and Chris Woodard had a two-run single. Luke Kelley’s base hit scored Woodard.

Christian Prichard walked, Shane Liston was safe on an error and Whitt had an RBI single to start the four-run second.

Boggs singled Whitt to third and he scored on a passed ball. Woodard reached on an error as a run scored and Kelley singled in his second run.

The Pointers added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth.

Warren Price reached on an error, Prichard was hit by a pitch and Liston singled home Price. Prichard scored on a wild pitch.

Tolsia got two runs in the sixth with the aid of a hit batsman, a singled by Jack Perry and two passed balls.

The Rebels scored two more in the seventh. Austin Fletcher singled and scored on Titus Wolford’s double. Wolford stole third and scored on a passed ball.

Kelley was 2-4 with two RBIs, Whitt 2-4 and an RBI and Liston 2-3 with an RBI to lead the Pointers’ offense.
