Robert Burnett

April 20, 1936-Sept. 12, 2013

 

Robert L. Burnett, Sr., 77, of Franklin Furnace, formerly of Ashland, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 12, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born April 20, 1936, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a son of the late Willie Lawrence and Stella Stratton Burnett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Agnes Johnson, Loretta Bowling, Virginia Pelphrey, and Clara Rayburn.

Bob was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time with his family. He retired after 32 years of service with Armco Steel, and served as a Tech Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Georgia Trout Burnett of Franklin Furnace; son, Tim (Vicki) Burnett of Mobile, Ala., Eric (Karen) Burnett of Long Island, N.Y., Kenith (Marie Sonia) Burnett of Springfield and Rob (Tracey) Burnett, Jr. of Lagrange, Ga.; a daughter, Neva Lee Darby (Greg) Benicker of Ashland, Ky.; brothers, Calvin (Bessie) Burnett of Catlettsburg, Ky., James Burnett of Bellefonte, Ky., and Charles (Doris) Burnett of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Sarah Lou Burton of Bellefonte; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home – Central Avenue Chapel, with words of comfort provided by his son, Tim Burnett, minister of Woodbridge Baptist Church in Mobile, Ala., and Pastor Rick Mays. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park where military honors will be provided by the American Legion Kenova Post 93.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Michael Faulkner

Michael D. Faulkner, Sr., 43, of Huntington, W.Va., formerly of Proctorville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va.

Gary England, 59, of Flatwoods, Ky., died on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at his residence. Funeral service was held on Saturday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.

Thomas Maynard Jr., 81, of Russell, Ky., died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Carman Funeral Home. Ruth Fields

Ruth Ann Fields, 41, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at her residence. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at noon at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Marjorie Ramey

Marjorie M. Ramey, 88, of Proctorville, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, by Dr. Thomas Malcolm.  Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.  Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Johnny Runyon

The Rev. Johnny Runyon, 69, of Proctorville, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. He was the husband of Linda Runyon, who survives.  Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville.  Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

David Massie

Oct. 21, 1948-Sept. 12, 2013

 

David Massie, 64, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky., after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 21, 1948, in Lawrence County,  a son of Ena McFarlene Massie of Bellefonte, and the late Ray Elden Massie. David was a United States Navy veteran with 10 years of service and attended the St.  Paul Lutheran Church.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his former wife, Cynthia Fillingham of Ironton; a son, Michael David Massie of Texas; a daughter, Stacy Michelle Edward of Brimington, Wash.; a stepson, Joey Fillington of Washington, two brothers, Wayne and Dan Massie, both of Ironton; and a host of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Kloha officiating. Keeping with David’s wishes he was cremated and his ashes scattered in a few of his favorite places. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations can be made to the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.  Friends and family may share memories and condolences on the Facebook page for the Brown Funeral Chapel

Robert Lyon

Oct. 30, 1975-Sept. 12, 2013

 

Robert S. Lyon,  37, Ashland, Ky., and Ironton, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Robert was born Oct 30, 1975. in Indiana to Eugen J. and Jo Ann Miller Lyon. Robert was a cabinet maker with Ashworth Cabinet Co. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are three sons, Robert C. Lyon, Dustin J. Lyon and Shannon M. Lyon; two brothers, Wayne Lyon and Shane Lyon; a special cousin, Michael Lyon; and a very special companion, Evelyn Perkins. Robert is preceded in death by a brother, Shannon Lyon; and grandparents, Noah and Mildred Lyon and Joe and Rosemary Miller. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at noon at the Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Dan Rapp. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before services on Tuesday. Arrangements have been entrusted to  the Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland, Ky. Family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the funeral home to help defer  funeral expenses.

 

 

Gary Hoke

Gary Lee Chuck Hoke Sr., 68, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home.
