Jim’s career in banking spanned 43 years all with Bank One Corporation (and its predecessor First Bank Group). Starting in Columbus his responsibilities included assistant branch manager, branch manager (Kingsdale) and assistant vice president which eventually led to his role as President and CEO of Bank One Cambridge and Zanesville. Prior to retirement he also assumed the role of chairman of the board of this bank retiring in 1995.

Jim cared very deeply about the communities in which he lived. Starting with his time in Columbus these included Kinder Key and Vaud-Villities Productions. Moving to southeast Ohio he impacted the lives of many with his work with the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, Guernsey Memorial Hospital Fund Drive, Rotary, the United Fund, Junior Achievement, Ohio Development Finance Commission, Omega, Arts and Crafts Foundation, Muskingum College Design for Tomorrow, Community Education Program Coordinator and the Community Industrial Association. Among his many achievements he was most proud of his early involvement and establishment of The Myron Fishel Scholarship Fund, which has provided countless scholarships to Guernsey County high school seniors.

Besides his deep love of his family Jim enjoyed his time on the golf course being a member of Cambridge Country Club, Zanesville Country Club and Sun & Lake Club in Sebring, Fla.
