Pointers blank Pirates

WHEELERSBURG — The South Point Pointers improved to 10-1-1 with a 1-0 soccer win over the Wheelersburg Pirates Thursday.

The Pointers — who lost senior defender Jeremiah Kipp in the first half with a broken collarbone — scored the lone goal on a corner kick by Trey Kearns off an assist from Jordan Overstreet at the 12-minute mark.

Goalie Brady Rickard had seven saves for the Pointers. Wheelersburg (7-2-3) had five saves.
