SOUTH POINT — Coach Chris Barnes is still trying to find a starting lineup and a proper rotation with his bench.

After Tuesday, he may have found his answers.

Brandon Barnes scored 29 points and Marquise Foley had a double-double to lead the South Point Pointers to a 76-58 win over the Portsmouth Trojans.

“We’re still trying to find our a lineup and figure out what everyone can do as we go along. We’ve improved but were playing so many good teams it’s hard to tell sometimes,” said coach Barnes.

One of the keys to the Pointers’ boost in offense the past two games has been the emergence of Foley.

“He makes us long and athletic. He helps us to get out and run,” said coach Barnes. “When we’re able to run like that, that opens the game up for our guards.”

Eli Ketron scored 11 points and played well on the boards as South Point improved to 2-3.

Ky’re Allison had 17 points and Sky Oliver 10 to pace the Trojans (2-2).

Brandon Barnes scored 8 points in the first quarter as the Pointers took a 23-15 lead.

Audric Harlow had all 7 of his points in the second quarter and South Point opened up a 41-30 halftime lead.

Brandon Barnes scored 15 of South Point’s 17 points in the third quarter and it was 58-47.

The Pointers outscored the Trojans 18-11 in the fourth quarter.

“That was big for us. Every single kid who came in played well and gave us some quality minutes,” said coach Barnes.
