FRANKLIN FURNACE — Some different looks on defense gave the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings a different feeling.

The Lady Vikings switched up defenses and snapped a four-game losing streak as they beat the Green Lady Bobcats 56-33 Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We worked on a lot of things defensively tonight. We tried to change it up and give people some different looks,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Brandon Walker.

Hannah Maynard scored a career high 17 points to lead the Lady Vikings (2-7, 2-4). Kalli Hunt scored 12 points and Elly Fulks added 11 points.

Madi Applegate had 11 points for Green (1-6, 1-5).

“Maynard had a career-high in points and she had several big rebounds as well. We challenged her before the game to step up offensively and did she ever,” said Walker.

Fulks scored 6 points in the first quarter and the Lady Vikings led 12-3.

Maynard had 15 points in the second quarter and it was 41-13 at the half.

Fulks got 4 in the third quarter and the lead was 49-23 after three quarters.

“I was impressed with our hustle plays tonight as well. We were all over loose balls and looking to tie it up and get jump balls. We did the little things tonight,” said Walker.

Jessica Patrick and Madi Applegate had 4 points each as Green outscored the Lady Vikings 10-7 in the fourth quarter, but it was well short of the goal.

The Lady Vikings host Hannan at 1 p.m. Saturday in a varsity only game.
