GRAYSON, Ky. — The South Point Pointers started fast and finished slow, but regardless they didn’t stop.

The Pointers built a 3-0 first half lead and then held on for a 3-2 soccer win over the East Carter Raiders Thursday.

“We were up 3-0 and we didn’t take care of business,” said Pointers’ coach Zane Joy. “We got caught up in their style of play.”

Jordan Overstreet scored off a corner kick with an assist from Jake Helton to give the Pointers a 1-0 lead.

Matt Krivan scored off an assist by Micah Harris to make it 2-0 and Helton got the third goal with an assist by Trey Kearns for a 3-0 halftime lead.

Evan Huddle’s goal with an assist from Pablo Zanarano put the Raiders on the scoreboard at the 53:00 mark.

The pair reversed roles for the second goal 12 minutes later but the Pointers held on for the win.

Brad Rickard had six saves for the Pointers.
