Tammie Carmon

Dec. 20, 1958-Oct. 2, 2014

Tammie Ruth Carmon, 55, of Coal Grove, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Columbus native was born Dec. 20, 1958, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Lamson Cade. She is survived by her husband, Paul Carmon of Coal Grove.

Tammie was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and a former cashier for Pick and Save Supermarket. She loved Coal Grove football games and spending time with her grandchildren and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Jason (Debbie) Carmon, Jeremy Carmon, and Brian Carmon, all of Coal Grove; a brother, Thomas Cade, of Wheelersburg; a sister, Teri (Auttie) Cade-Sarven, of Pedro; five grandchildren, Aubree Carmon, Kaitlynn Riffe, Melody Daniels, Marcus Daniels, and Petey Riffe; three nieces, Stacy (Doug) Bowling, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, Stephanie Sarven and Shelby Sarven, both of Pedro; a great niece, Abigail Bowling, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; and a great nephew, Bryson Sarven, of Pedro.

Graveside services will be noon Tuesday at Lawrence Furnace Cemetery with pastor Brad Jenkins officiating. There will be no public visitation and Phillips Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

Faye Bocock

May 7, 1930-Oct. 2, 2014

Faye Lewis Bocock, 84, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014.  She was born on May 7, 1930, in Jackson, to the late Edgar and Elizabeth Gahm Lewis.  She graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1948 and started teaching in Ironton in 1950.  She received her bachelor’s degree (cum laude) from Rio Grande College in 1955.  She taught in Jackson for 18 years and in Wheelersburg for 14 years.  Faye loved to teach and she loved her students

Faye and her husband, Jack, were married on June 18, 1955, in Oak Hill.  She was a member of Wheelersburg United Methodist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as Worthy Matron.  She had also been active in the Coterie Club and Junior Federated Women’s Club in Jackson.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Bocock; a daughter, Susan (Chris) Conley, of Ashland and four grandchildren, Eric Conley, Megan Bocock, Natalie Conley, and Cameron Bocock.  She is also survived by one brother, Thomas Lewis, of Jackson; and one sister, Glenna Davis, of Columbus, as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Bocock, in 2000.  Also preceding her in death were a brother, Edgar Lewis; and three sisters, Hazel Eubanks, Lorraine Hedges, and Wilma Truxal.

Faye was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family.  She was a kind and generous person who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday. A memorial service will be at noon on Wednesday at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the United Methodist Women’s Scholarship Fund at Wheelersburg United Methodist Church.

 

 

 

Lucille Witten

Lucille Bays Witten, 85, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, formerly of Wurtland, Kentucky, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on today at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods with pastor Bill Oakes officiating.  Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. today at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Online condolences may be left at baileyfamilyfuneralhome.com.

 

 

 

Helen Fraley

Helen D. Fraley, 90, of Kenova, West Virginia, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington. David Smith

David Clifford ‘D.C.’ Smith, 91, of Proctorville, died on Friday Oct. 3, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington.  He is survived by his wife, Viola Ramey Smith.  Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by pastor Mike Smith.

Charles Shoemaker

Charles Samuel Shoemaker, 64, of Scottown, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.

There will be no visitation.

Deloris Davis

Deloris Catherine Davis, 79, of South Point, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington.

She is survived by her husband Dewey Davis, Sr. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.

Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
