AID — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings were a big hit.

The Lady Vikings spanked out 16 hits as they downed the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 10-4 on Wednesday.

“We hit the ball really well. It was like one player got bit by the hitting bug and infected everyone else. Everyone hit up and down the lineup,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

The Lady Vikings (12-2) were led by Taylor Webb who was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of runs batted in.

Sierra Ross also had a big game as she went 2-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI. Caitlin Carpenter was 2-4 with a double, Tiara Hatfield 2-4 and three RBI and Hannah Newcomb 2-4.

Kelsey Huff was 2-4 for Chesapeake.

Brown singled, Webb doubled and Hatfield hit a sacrifice fly as the Lady Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

The lead went to 3-0 in the second as Newcomb, Megan McComas and Brown all singled to load the bases and Webb smacked a two-run double.

Carpenter singled and Mays belted a two-run homer in the third and it was 5-0.

Chesapeake got a run in the fourth when Melanie Noble and Lyric Bair singled and Sydnee Hall grounded out.

But the Lady Vikings scored four times in the bottom of the inning.

Brown, Webb and Hatfield singled for a run and Ross cranked a three-run homer.

Laura Rice walked, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on Huff’s base hit as Chesapeake got a run in the fifth.

The Lady Vikings got the run back in the sixth when Kaitlyn Payne and Hatfield singled and Ross doubled.

The Lady Panthers scored two in the seventh.

Brooke Webb, Rice and Huff all singled for a run and then Lindsey Davidson reached on an error as a run scored.

Symmes Valley visits New Boston on Thursday.
