PORTSMOUTH — Shawnee State University’s African, Hispanic, Asian, Native American Club (AHANA) is sponsoring C*MAR to host CMARNIVAL on Thursday on the Annex Lawn at SSU from 5 to 9 p.m.

CMARNIVAL will serve as a platform to display the artwork and creativity of C*MAR to SSU students. The event features a walkthrough art display, carnival games, food and sweets, as well as prizes and raffle give away.

“We wanted to collaborate with a diversified club on campus to show what our mission is at C*MAR and we couldn’t think of a better fit than to do it with AHANA which is all about accepting diversity and being open minded to different races and cultures,” said Nick Sherman, one of the founders of C*MAR.

C*MAR stands for Creative Minds Are Rare and was founded by four members back in 2014 by June Borell, a SSU senior majoring in video game design, Dominique Johnson, a sophomore at SSU majoring in business management, Connor Sherman and Nick Sherman, both seniors majoring in graphic design at SSU. The goal is to collaborate their creativity and bringing different perspectives to light through the artwork. C*MAR specializes mainly in street wear clothing and graffiti pieces.

AHANA is a group of culturally diverse students, staff and associates concerned about the mental, social and academic well-being of all students, especially the multicultural students. They are responsible for multiple events on campus including the SSU Student Talent Show.
