James Myers

March 4, 1931—Jan. 25, 2016

James Eugene Myers, 84, of Scottown, went to be with the Lord, Monday, Jan. 25, 2016. He was born March 4, 1931, the son of the late Allen Oliver and Nellie Pearl Davis Myers of Lecta. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna Lee Shepherd Myers.

He was a former employee of the Semet Solvay and was a retired farmer who served three years in the U.S. Army’s 109th Combat Battalion during the Korean War, stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He was a member of the VFW Post 4464 in Gallipolis, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Rodney Myers; and siblings, Maxine Potts, Mae Capper, Ivadene Holschuw, Marie Wass, Dale Myers, Roy Myers and Sam Myers; and two infant sisters.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jerry (Brenda) Myers, of Willow Wood; two daughters, Bev (Tom) McGraw, of Bidwell and Kim (Mike) Carrico, of Scottown; a daughter-in-law, Jeri Riggle, of Willow Wood; nine grandchildren: Shawn (Jackie) Corn, of Willow Wood, Shannon (Gwen) McGraw, of Rio Grande, Scott (Samantha) Myers, of Coal Grove, Adam (Bethanie) Corn, of Scottown, Christina (Todd) Shafer, of Willow Wood, Jeremy (Kristen) Riggle, of Willow Wood, Mika Ross, of Dunbar, West Virginia Aleshia Napier, of Willow Wood and Jill (Travis) Moore, of Huntington; 17 great grandchildren: Braden Corn, Tanner Corn, Gabriella McGraw, Giulianna McGraw, Rylie Myers, Averie Myers, Adalyn Corn, Annabeth Corn, Ethan Shafer, Bentley Riggle, Tifany Myers, Jacob Napier, Millie Napier, Brynn Moore, Carter Moore, Britany (Brad) Pike, Owen Pike and he was anxiously awaiting the arrival any day of the next generation of Myers (Mr. Barrett Eugene Myers); a sister, Eleanor Roach; a brother, Earl (Louise) Myers; a sister-in-law, Betty Myers; and many nieces, nephew and friends he dearly loved.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Perkins Ridge Missionary Baptist Church with pastor Don Massie officiating. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery and visitation will be from noon Thursday until the time of the service at the church. Military graveside rites will be performed by the VFW Post 4464. Carolyn Leadmon

Carolyn June Leadmon, 76, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Jan. 23, 2016, in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at 2 p.m. at Apostolic Life Cathedral with Bishop E. S. Harper officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Juanita McFarling

Juanita Elizabeth McFarling, 92, of Huntington, West Virginia died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Funeral service will be conducted at noon Friday at Real Life Christian Center, 25th Street and Ninth Avenue, Huntington, West Virginia. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Diana Aites

Diana Mitchell Aites, 59, of South Point, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. She is survived by her husband, Mark Aites. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Brandin Brownfield

Brandin Patrick Brownfield, 39, of Ironton, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Visitation is an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
