K. Paul Howell

K. Paul Howell, 94, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Hillview Retirement in Portsmouth. The Ironton native was born Sept. 13, 1921, a son of the late William W. and Elizabeth Kelley Howell. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Alice McDannold Howell, whom he married Feb. 23, 1963.

Mr. Howell was a 1940 graduate of Ironton High School and retired in 1992 after 40 years from A.F. Industries in Ironton, where he was a draftsman. He also worked for Henrites Inc. for 10 years before A.F. Industries. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ironton and spent his whole life in Ironton. He and his wife, Ruth, loved to travel all over the world and he was an accomplished artist, often painting places where they had visited.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Judson Howell and Walter Howell; and three sisters, Ethel Howell, Helen Howell and Mary Lou Greene.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Judene Love, of Ironton, Sam Greene and his wife Mary, of Cleveland, Tennessee, Liz Anne Triplett, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mike Greene and his wife Terri, of Lehigh Acres, Florida.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton, with pastor Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
