Annual fishing event a great thing

For many throughout Lawrence County and the region, one of the most relaxing and enjoyable pasttimes is heading out for a fishing trip at Lake Vesuvius.

Most anglers will tell you that finding just the right spot on the lake or fishing hole is the best part. While enjoying a day catching fish seems easy, it can be extremely difficult for those with age or physical limitations.

For more than a decade, the Wheelin’ Sportsman Fishing event hosted by the forest service at Wayne National Forest along with other sponsors has provided hundreds, if not thousands with the ability to go out and enjoy a day of fishing at the boardwalk along Lake Vesuvius.

We applaud the continuing efforts of Wayne National Forest and those who sponsor this event each year, as the event fosters an uplifting experience for many who thought enjoying a day of fishing was an impossibility to enjoy.

If you haven’t had a chance to attend or participate, we hope that you choose to make plans to go and participate this year from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on April 14

Sure, the event comes for a few hours each year, but for many, the memories made will stay with them forever.
