PORTSMOUTH — And the beat goes on…

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings continued to roll through the Southern Ohio Conference with a 7-3 win over the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans on Wednesday.

The Lady Vikings are now 13-2 overall and 9-0 in the SOC.

“That’s a big conference win,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep. “Kaitlyn Payne had a nice game for us. She pitched well and she hit the ball.”

Payne struck out 10 and walked three in tossing a five-hitter. She was 3-4 at the pate with a home run and three runs batted in.

Caitlin Carpenter was 2-3 with a home run for the Lady Vikings while Hannah Mays was 2-3 with a double.

Taylor Webb singled and Payne followed with a two-run homer to put the Lady Vikings up 2-0 in the first inning.

The Lady Vikings got a run in the second on a one-out solo home run by Carpenter.

After the Lady Titans got a run in the bottom of the second and fourth, the Lady Vikings scored three runs in the fifth.

Mays doubled, Stephanie Brown singled and Webb hit into fielder’s choice for an RBI. Payne and Tiara Hatfield followed with RBI singles.

Carpenter had a one-out single, stole second, took third on a ground out and came home on Mays’ base hit to make it 7-2in the top of the sixth.

Notre Dame scored a run in the bottom of the inning.

Symmes Valley hosts the annual Valley of Thunder on Friday and Saturday.
