SOUTH POINT — Just like a good breakfast, the South Point Lady Pointers know the importance of a good and balanced game plan.
The Lady Pointers put together two key ingredients as they crushed the Gallipolis Blue Angels 73-33 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
“It was a good win for us. Good defense and a balanced offense is our best combination,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Dave Adams.
South Point (11-6, 7-3) had four players in double figures as Kate Mundy and Elisha Spencer scored 11 points each while Brooklyn Badgett and Abbey Hannah had 10 points apiece.
The Lady Pointers honored Badgett before the game on Senior Night. Badgett is the team’s lone senior.
“Brooklyn Badgett is our only senior. She is a great player, leader and student. We will miss her next year but we aren’t finished yet,” said Adams.
Adrienne Jenkins scored nine points and Hunter Copley eight for Gallipolis (7-11, 3-8).
Emilee Whitt scored six of her eight points and Hannah added four points as South Point took an 18-11 first quarter lead. Jenkins had six points for Gallipolis.
Badgett hit a pair of 3-pointers, Emilee Carey had five points including a trifecta and Mundy scored four points as South Point opened up a 36-20 halftime cushion.
The Lady Pointers put the game out of reach in the third quarter by outscoring the Blue Angels 20-8 and build a 56-28 lead.
Mundy scored seven points including a 3-pointer, Hannah made two 3-pointers and Carey added another triple.
South Point visits Fairland on Friday and Ironton Monday. Gallipolis is at River Valley Saturday and Fairland on Monday.
