CHESAPEAKE — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers could only score one run.
That was plenty enough for Brooke Webb.
Webb struck out six and walked one as she allowed only four hits and the Lady Panthers beat the Gallipolis Blue Angels 1-0 in a classic pitcher’s duel.
“She threw pretty well. Both of them did. We had three hits and they had four, so it was well-pitched and well-played by both teams,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.
Webb allowed two runners to second base and two runners to third base.
But each time she choked off the threat.
The Blue Angels’ Hunter Copley gave up just three hits, struck out five and walked two.
Chesapeake got the only run of the game in the fourth inning.
With one out, Jordan Storms reached on an error, went to second on a ground out, stole third and scored on a base hit by Breanna Russell.
On Friday, Chesapeake visits Fairland and Gallipolis entertains Portsmouth.
