Long before the Cincinnati Bengals were founded in 1968, the only NFL team in Ohio was the Cleveland Browns.
Because of the Browns toehold in this area, fathers have passed down their love of the Browns to their sons. That tradition has caused the fan base for the Browns to grow and grow.
In fact, the Browns fan club — known as The Browns Backers Worldwide (BBW) — has grown to the point it is considered one of the largest organized fan clubs in all of professional sports with members and fan clubs established throughout the world.
Ironton and Lawrence County have been part of the Browns’ history and it currently professes proudly the LawCo Browns Backers who have been officially recognized by the BBW.
“We’ve started up the LawCo Browns Backers Club. We just want to get the word out there to Browns fans,” said Steve Call who organized the local chapter.
The BBW exists as a non-profit organization to actively support and positively promote the Cleveland Browns.
