CHESAPEAKE— The Wayne Lady Pioneers put up their Christmas three’s.
Wayne hit eight 3-point goals en route to a 50-35 win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Saturday.
Aerial Adkins and Whitney Sansom each had three 3-point goals as Wayne improved to 5-1. Adkins scored 19 points and Sansom 15.
The Lady Panthers (4-3) were led by senior Natalee Hall with 16 points. Hall and Maddie Ward had the only 3-pointers for Chesapeake.
Wayne took a 15-7 first quarter lead as Adkins hit two 3-pointers and scored eight points. Maddie Wilcox also had a 3-pointer.
Hall scored five points in the first quarter.
Sansom made two triples in the second quarter and Adkins had six points as Wayne went up 27-17 at the half.
Hall got six points in the second quarter while Shia Ervin had a basket and Karli Davis made two foul shots.
Lakyn Adkins scored all six of her points including a 3-pointer while Sansom had five points with a 3-pointers as the Lady Pioneers stretched their lead to 41-25.
Hall hit a 3-pointer and scored five points while Brooke Webb had the other three points in the quarter for Chesapeake.
The Lady Panthers outscored Wayne 10-9 in the fourth quarter as Maddie Ward came off the bench to get five points including a 3-pointer.
Chesapeake hosts Tolsia, W.Va., on Saturday, Dec. 30.
