CHESAPEAKE — As a team, Winfield was a runaway winner. Individually, Robbie Isaacs ran away from the field.

Winfield won the boys division of the Chesapeake Lions Club Invitational Thursday night, but Isaacs had the top individual effort.

Isaacs, a junior for the Chesapeake Panthers, tied a meet record with a blistering 10.8 seconds in the 100 meter dash.

"I knew Robbie was pretty quick, but I didn’t expect this," said Panthers coach Phil Davis.

Winfield had 167 points to finish well ahead of Chesapeake with 94 points. Gallipolis was third with 86 points followed by Wellston with 72, Rock Hill 36, Coal Grove 24, and Fairland 11.

"We might have made it more interesting, but we had four guys out. We’re getting better, but we have a ways to go," said Davis. "We wouldn’t have caught Winfield. They’re pretty solid."

Isaacs also won the long jump with a leap of 20-2. Teammate Danny Wassell won the high jump with a leap of 6-2 and took first in the 400 meter run with a time of 52.0 seconds.

Rock Hill’s B. J. McDonie ran a 43.6 to win the 300 hurdles.

Gallipolis was the easy winner in the girls meet with 132.5 points, 29 points ahead of runner-up Winfield. Rock Hill was third with 78.5, Ironton had 59, Boyd County 48, Chesapeake 45.5, Fairland 15, Coal Grove 7, and Wellston 3.

Chesapeake’s Janelle McQuaid won the shot put with a throw of 32-7 and teammate Laura King was second. Rock Hill’s Crystal Bamer had a toss of 98-8 to win the discus and the Redwomen’s Jessica Kerns was first in the high jump at 4-8.

Rock Hill’s other winner was Mandy McDonie in the 300 hurdles with a 52.3 clocking.

Ironton’s Rachael Perry was second in the 100 and 400 meter dashes.

The Ironton Invitational boys track and field meet will be held Saturday.
