Sarah Stapleton

PORTSMOUTH – Sarah Louise Stevens Stapleton, 71, died Thursday at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

The Greenup County, Ky., native was born July 13, 1927.

She was the wife of Enoch Harrison Stapleton, who survives.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with the Rev. Gary Proehl officiating.

Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and one hour before the service Monday.

 

Ole Adams

WHEELERSBURG –  Ole Adams, 85, of Wheelersburg died Thursday at Best Care Nursing Home in Wheelersburg.

The McGoffin County, Ky., native was born May 25, 1913.

He was the husband of Minnie May Turvey Adams, who survives.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home, with Lynn Wessel officiating.

Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before the service today.

 

Joe Skeens

LOAD, Ky. –  Joe Skeens, 84, of Load died Friday at his home.

The Brushart native was born Jan. 25, 1915.

He was the husband of Gladys Collier Skeens, who survives.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Wright’s Funeral Home, with Henderson Morris and Follitt Abdon officiating.

Burial will be in Bentley Cemetery.

 

Doris Adkins

SOUTH POINT – Doris May Adkins, 58, of South Point died Saturday at her home.

The Huntington, W.Va., native was born March 27, 1999.

She was the wife of Earl Adkins, who survives.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Schneider-Slack funeral Home in Chesapeake, with minister Eddie O. Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Docks Creek Cemetery in Kenova, W.Va.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Ernest Smith

HOUSTON, Texas – Ernest Powell Smith, 82, of Houston, formerly of South Point, Ohio, died Friday at Memorial Hospital in Houston.

The Branchland, W.Va., native was born Aug. 21, 1917.

He was the husband of Ardith Pridemore Smith, who survives.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at South Point United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Pete Shaffer officiating.

Visitation will 6-9 p.m. Monday at Schneider Funeral Home in Chesapeake. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery in Hamlin, W.Va.

 

Clifford Massie

FLATWOODS, Ky. – Clifford C. Massie Sr., 55, of Flatwoods died Friday at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital after an extended illness.

The Ironton, Ohio, native was born Jan. 27, 1944.

He was the husband of Charlotte Greene Massie, who survives.

Funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with the Revs. Earl Hazel and Ken Gowin officiating.

Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

Leland Spears

Leland Spears, 78, of Ironton died Thursday at his home.

The Odds, Ky., native was born Jan. 22, 1921.

He was the husband of the late Ida Burton Jarrell Spears.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland, Ky.

 

Curtis Bowman

SOUTH POINT – Curtis R. Bowman, 64, died Friday at River Valley Health System.

The Lawrence County native was born April 15, 1934.

He was the husband of June McCall Bowman.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor John Alley officiating.

Burial will be in Melvin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ironton City Mission.

 

Enoch Mullins

PINE GROVE - Enoch Mullins, 69, of Pine Grove, died Friday at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Lawrence County native was born July 5, 1929.

He was the husband of Alberta Warren Mullins, who survives.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Ohio Valley United Baptist Church with Bros. Larry Salyers and Glen Sturgill officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, and the body will lie in state one hour before services begin.
