Juanita Stapleton
April 17, 1928- Sept. 1, 2008
Juanita R. Stapleton, 80, of Ironton, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Logan, W. Va., native was born April 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Lillie Rose Ingles Stevens. She is survived by her husband, William Stapleton, whom she married April 16, 1956.
She attended Kingsbury School and attended the Hanging Rock Apostolic Church of God.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a son, Peter Day.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by eight sons and five daughters-in-law, Samuel and Dottie Thomason, of Coal Grove, Carl Sisler Jr., of Kentucky, William G. and Linda Stapleton, of Flatwoods, Ky., Terry and Gladys Stapleton, of Kitts Hill, Richie Stapleton, of Coal Grove,
David Stapleton ,of Franklin Furnace, Mark and Veronica Stapleton, of Decatur and Tim Stapleton and Sandy Pruitt, of Ironton; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Lavoda Davidson, of Ironton, Donna Stapleton, of Coal Grove, Jill and Jeff Hurst, of Franklin Furnace and Edith and George Wilson, of Coal Grove;
23 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral
will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Hanging Rock Apostolic Church of God with Elder Glenn Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hanging Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be

GALLIPOLIS FERRY, W.Va. — Gary Lee White, 73, of Gallipolis Ferry, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at home. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in White Cemetery, Crown City. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. Thursday.

PROCTORVILLE — Louis Alfred Morris, 96, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at home. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Conrad and the Rev. Alice Stephenson

Alice Stephenson, 89, of Ironton, a former Duck Run, Lucasville resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Bryant Health Center in Ironton. She was born June 14, 1919, at Fallen Timber, Lucasville, a daughter of the late Thomas Luther and Martha Jane Wiles Conkel Sr.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis H. Stephenson on April 30, 2003; a son, Francis H. Stephenson II; three brothers, Harlan, Carl and Marvin Conkel; and four sisters, Cynthia Conkel, Millie Wilson, Nell Hanes and Kathleen Adams.
She is survived by one daughter, Jane (Lawrence) Murphy of Ironton; two granddaughters, Laura Jane Murphy of Ironton and Any Beth White of Columbus; a brother, Thomas Conkel Jr. of Beaver, and a sister, Mary Wilson of West Portsmouth.
Alice was a homemaker and a 4-H adviser for more than 50 years. She was a 1936 Stockdale High School graduate and attended Portsmouth Interstate Business College for one year. She was a member of Johnstown Baptist Church and a former member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Elder Pete Horn officiating. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

HOUSTON, Texas— Phillip R. Carey, 53, of Houston, formerly of Ironton, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, in Houston. Arrangements are pending O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home.
