Baseball fan and player Shane Jones, 10, of Ironton, leisurely tosses a baseball while standing at home plate on the Ironton Little League fields. Shane was a member of the Cardinals and the All-stars as a pitcher this season, until he was diagnosed for a second time with leukemia in June. Friends and neighbors are sponsoring a carnival this weekend to benefit the Jones family – and Shane – who will undergo a bone marrow transplant in October. Shane is taking his next battle in stride, saying he is going to play baseball next summer.
