John Calvin Henry

Jan. 30, 1911-March 9, 2002

GALION – John Calvin Henry, 91, of Galion died Saturday at Rosewood Manor in Galion

The Superior native was born Jan. 30, 1911, the son of the late John and Ada Lane Henry.

He was the husband of the late Audrey Abrams Henry, who died in 1984.

He was a former coal miner for Collings Mining Co. and retired from I.T.T. North in Galion. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Bucyrus and the Moose Lodge #303 in Galion. He was born and raised in Lawrence County and attended Superior Schools growing up, but has lived in the Galion and Marion area for many years.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three children, Raymond, John and Della Mae Henry; one great-granddaughter, Rebecca Ann Henry; two brothers, Geoffrey and Charles Henry; and three sisters, Mattie Henry, Leila Young and Margaret Aldridge.

Survivors include two sons, Curtis Henry and Robert Henry, both of Ironton; four daughters, Betty Steele of Marion, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Heimlich of Galion, Mrs. John (Patricia) Nunn of Bucyrus and Ada Nancy Bullion of Mt. Gilead; 16 grand children; 26 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Henry of Portsmouth; and one sister, Hazel Bailey of Pedro.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton, with Brother Jack Pemberton officiating. Burial will be in Puckett Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Jiles Burdette

WURTLAND, Ky. – Jiles E. Burdette, 81, of Wurtland, Ky. died Saturday at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

Keith Rose

SCOTTOWN – Keith Rose, 31, of Scottown died Wednesday at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, with pastor David Day officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Blanche Wilburn

MUNCIE, Ind. – Blanche E. Collins Wilburn, 91, of Muncie, formerly of Huntington, W.Va., and Flatwoods, Ky. She was the wife of the late Charles J. Wilburn. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Carman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Harry White

PROCTORVILLE – Harry E. White, 68, of Proctorville died Friday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. He was the husband of Betty White, who survives. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens. Visitation was Saturday at the funeral home.

 

Audrey Wall

MILLER – Audrey E. Wall, 89, of Miller died Saturday at her residence. She was the wife of Kenneth Wall, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville.

Vansel Stapleton

Vansel Stapleton, 75, of Ironton died Friday at his residence. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

 

Harold Stapleton

FRANKLIN FURNACE – Harold Stapleton, 70, of Franklin Furnace died Saturday at his son’s residence. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

 

Marjorie Collins

Marjorie Collins, 77, of Ironton died Saturday in Houston Texas. She was the widow of Golden Collins. Arrangements are pending at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
