The better the record, the more cheers you hear, but even the Lawrence County teams that are struggling this season have plenty of loyal fans there to acknowledge their effort.

But the football teams are not the only stars on the fields.

Lawrence County has many first-rate, award-winning marching bands, who brave the elements and hours of practice to make sure there is entertainment and spirit at each and every county high school football game.

These students don’t just perform at the games either. In addition to their performance and practice schedules, these young musicians also must get ready for many band competitions each season.

Just as the fans should cheer for their teams, so, too, should they make sure that they support their bands. Although they might not always get the same attention that the football teams do each week, they work just as hard and invest just as much time in perfecting their skills as the athletes on the gridiron.

And they appreciate the cheers just as much.
