59th Apple Festival begins in Jackson

JACKSON – Mountains of apples and barrels of cider from the orchards of Jackson County will set the scene this week for the 59th annual Jackson County Apple Festival.

JACKSON – Mountains of apples and barrels of cider from the orchards of Jackson County will set the scene this week for the 59th annual Jackson County Apple Festival.
Festivities are going on throughout the week on the downtown streets of Jackson and will wrap up Saturday night.
Featured at this year’s festival are homemade apple butter, apple pies, apple jelly, apple dumplings, apple sauce, candy and carmel apples and apple cider and juice.
There will be four parades – two on Wednesday at 2 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., one Thursday at noon and the Grande Finale Parade on Saturday evening at 7:45.
Shows for this year include a craft show, a quilt show, an art show and an antique car show.
Featured performers for this year include the gospel group The Guardians on Wednesday night. Thursday night will feature 1960s recording artists The Vogues and Friday night Cledus T. Judd and the Warren Brothers will appear.
Broadway street will serve as the location for most of the special attractions at the festival including the Little Queen’s Display at Engraving Plus. The souvenir program display will be at A.L. Terry’s Jewelers. The past court members display can be seen at the Jackson Fabric and Sewing Center and the past queens’ display can be seen at the Farm Bureau. The queens’ window display will be featured at Andrea’s on Main Street.
Other attractions include a book sale at the City Library, an open golf tournament at Franklin Valley Golf Club off Ohio 93 and an Apple Festival Art Show at the Markay Cultural Art Center on Main Street.
