The Wheelersburg Pirates crushed the Northwest Mohawks 69-7 Friday night to clinch at least a share of the SOC Division II championship.

The Wheelersburg Pirates crushed the Northwest Mohawks 69-7 Friday night to clinch at least a share of the SOC Division II championship.
Wheelersburg is now 5-0 in the SOC with only Portsmouth West at home next Friday the last hurdle to clear. The Pirates are 8-0 on the season.
The Pirates amassed 476 total yards led by Jason Schmidt with 145 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Gabe Klaiber’s 1-yard touchdown run started a collection of four scores the first quarter for the Pirates.
Mike Hall scored on a 1-yard run for Northwest to tie the game, but the avalanche began on the next series as Andy Gill threw a 64-yard pass to Schmidt for a touchdown at it was 14-7.
Luke Emnett had touchdown runs of 26 and 4 yards that pushed the lead to 28-7 at the end of the quarter.
The lead grew to 49-7 at the half as Wheelersburg scored three more times in the quarter.
Klaiber had a 4-yard TD run, Schmidt caught an 18-yard touchdown pass, and Klaiber added his third touchdown on a 3-yard run.
Northwest fell to 3-5 on the season and 0-3 in the SOC.
