Most aren’t worried about where the meal will come from. Their biggest concern is whether they will forget to buy something from the stores before they close for the holiday.

But that holiday scenario is not the same for everyone.

For some Lawrence County families, the holidays are a time to worry. Forget the big meal, the needy are concerned that there might not be enough for their children to eat after the holidays are over. They try to conserve, but the holidays are at the end of the month and that means a shortage of funds and help.

So, some men, women, children and senior citizens will spend Thursday with empty stomachs and heavy hearts.

But you can help change that for a needy Lawrence County family.

While you are out getting your supplies for your holiday dinner, pick up a couple extra cans of food. Take those extras down to your church or to the City Mission. They will make sure that your donation gets to someone who needs it.

Thanksgiving is a time to remember the blessings that many of us have enjoyed this year. What better way to keep the holiday and upcoming Christmas season in perspective than to share our wealth with someone who has a lot less to celebrate.
