Lloyd Maddy Jr.

July 20, 1930-April 4, 2001

COLUMBUS – Lloyd Maddy Jr., 70, of Columbus died Wednesday at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.

The Ironton native was born July 20, 1930, the son of the late Harriett and Lloyd Maddy Sr.

He was the husband of the late Carol Maddy.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church South, Carpenter’s Local No. 200, American Legion Post 0164, VFW Post 8794 and the Polar Bear Alumni Association of North High School.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Matt and Barb Maddy and Mike Maddy; one grandson, Michael; two granddaughters, Ashley and Cayla; niece Kelly and her family; and a very special friend, Karol and her family.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus with the Rev. David Lackrone officiating.

Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be maid to the polar bear exhibit at the Columbus Zoo.

Iantha Jean Bates

Jan. 31, 1954-April 3, 2001

COLUMBUS – Iantha Jean Bates, 47, of Columbus, formerly of Gallipolis, died Tuesday at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.

The Meigs County native was born Jan. 31, 1954, the daughter of Robert E. Still of Dayton, who survives, and the late Huldah Frances Gordan.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Paint Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Calvin Minnis officiating.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home in Gallipolis and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Roy D. Patrick

Jan. 16, 1931-April 2, 2001

GLADE, Tenn. – Lt. Col. Roy D. Patrick, 70, of Glade, Tenn., died Monday at Cookesville Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

The Louisa, Ky., native was born Jan. 16, 1931, the son of the late Marion and Hazel Hardeman Patrick. He was the husband of Betty L. (Willis) Patrick, who survives.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Chester, Va.

Burial will be in Bermuda Memorial Park with military honors.

Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.

John Jordan

John W. Jordan, 91 of Ironton, died Wednesday at his residence.

He was the wife of the late Marian Jordan.

Arrangements are pending at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home.

Opal Ash

Dec. 13, 1931-April 4, 2001

Opal Maxine Ash, 69, of Ironton died Wednesday at her home.

The Ashland, Ky., native was born Dec. 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Andy and Myrtle Manley Boyd.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Perkins Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home.
