Lady Bobcats roll past Lady Titans

The Green Lady Bobcats picked up their first win of the season with a 71-37 rout of the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

The Green Lady Bobcats picked up their first win of the season with a 71-37 rout of the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

"It was our first win and it was a league win. We needed that," Green coach Melissa Brown said

Megan Tackett scored 29 points for the second straight game to lead Green in scoring. She also had eight assists and seven steals.

"She had a great game for us," said Brown.

Jennifer Cline added 18 points, nine rebounds, and eight steals for Green while Emily Horsely got 10 points. Jamie Hurst had eight rebounds and six assists.

Garren Dickerson led Notre Dame with 13 points.

Cline had 7 points the second quarter as the Lady Bobcats pulled away to a 38-22 halftime cushion. Emily Horsely and Tackett scored 7 points each the third quarter and Green held the Titans to only 2 points as the lead grew to 56-24.

Green, 1-1, plays at Portsmouth Clay Monday.

Portsmouth 57, Chesapeake 39

CHESAPEAKE – The Portsmouth Lady Trojans placed three players in double figures as they used a big second half to rally past the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 57-39 Thursday in a non-league game.

Courtney Clifford scored 14 points and Jessica Wood and Megan Felts tallied 12 each to lead Portsmouth.

Chesapeake’s Erin Sutphin led all scorers with 16 points and Kati Fuller added 10.

Sutphin, Fuller, and Jessica Hall each scored three points the first quarter as Chesapeake took a 13-6 lead. But Clifford got 8 points the second quarter as Portsmouth closed to within 22-20 at the half.

Felts scored 5 points the third quarter as Portsmouth erupted for 21 points. Chesapeake struggled as Sutphin scored 5 of the team’s 11 points as the Lady Trojans went up 41-33.

Felts scored 7 points and Wood 6 the fourth quarter as Portsmouth outscored Chesapeake 16-6 and pulled away to the win.

Chesapeake, 0-2, plays at South Webster Monday.
