Vera Billing, her son, Ed, and grandson, Thomas, admire the Christmas tree on the mall in downtown Ironton. Mrs. Billing’s late husband, Tom, planted the tree 25 years ago in their Ironton yard. The tree was one of two he brought back in the trunk of his car after a trip to Michigan. This winter, the two were cut down because they had grown to more than 25 feet and were obscuring the home. Mrs. Billing donated one of the trees to serve as the city’s official Christmas tree.
