After all, it is true, Santa Claus is a spirit – a chance for all of us to share a moment of caring and thinking of someone other than ourselves.

Santa Claus is the joy we all feel when we watch a loved one open a special gift or when an excited child rushes downstairs to get that first look at the tree and the pile of presents under it.

Maybe if we grown-ups believed a little more in Santa, there might not be so much fighting, bickering and whining about what we do not have.

There might not be as many people concerned about how much better their neighbor’s life is, or how much better their geraniums look. Maybe, if we believed in Santa, we might be able to appreciate the little things in life that we all take for granted as we rush, rush through our hectic days and lament our lost time.

And, maybe, we could appreciate our differences and celebrate our future with the joy of a child who still believes in miracles and the magic of sugarplum fairies.

Now, go to bed and listen for those sleigh bells.
