Muriel Clark

June 7, 1916-Aug. 6, 2001

Muriel E. Clark, 85, of Coal Grove died Monday at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

She was born June 7, 1916 at Leatherwood, Ohio, the daughter of the late John C. and Fonnie McGuire Maddy.

She was employed for several years at Huntington Trust and Savings Bank in Huntington and she was a member of Sharon Baptist Church of Ironton.

She also was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Willa Wright

Oct. 2, 1942-Aug. 6, 2001

WHEELERSBURG – Willa Jean Wright, 58, of Wheelersburg died Monday at her home.

The Mansfield native was born Oct. 2, 1942, the daughter of the late Marshall and Elsie Elliott Au.

She was the wife of Gary Wright, who survives.

She was a protestant.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Ann Nolan.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home, with the Rev. Emil Carter officiating.

Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral Home.

James Nunley

May 6, 1933-Aug. 6, 2001

FLATWOODS, Ky. – James Ronald "J.R." Nunley, 68, of Flatwoods, formerly of Catlettsburg, died Monday at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.

The Lawrence County native was born May 6, 1933, the son of the late Lindsey H. and Pluma Poe Nunley.

He was retired from AK Steel, Coke Division; and he was a 16-year veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was a member of the American Legion Post 76 of Ashland; Loyal Order of the Moose 892 of Ashland; AMVETS 95 of Greenup; VFW Post 15018 of Flatwoods; VFW Post 100 of Ashland; and the Military Order of Cooties of Ashland.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Kilgore and Collier Funeral Home, with Pete Miller officiating.

Burial will be in Harmon Cemetery in Lawrence County, with military graveside rites by Kenova Post 93.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
